These abdominal strips are a silicone sheeting that helps reduce the appearance and texture of scars. It has been clinically proven to help reduce flatten, fade and smooth scars, both old and new. For best results wear the strips as often as you can day and night, except while showering or exercising. Each silicone strip should last you 3 to 4 weeks, and any unopened pieces can be used for up to 3 years. FAQs	Mechanism of Action Scar tissues exhibits excessive trans-epidermal water loss for as long as one year post-wound healing. This abnormally high level of water evaporation stimulates keratinocytes to produce cytokines, which in turn signal the activation of fibroblasts to synthesize collagen. Left unchecked, excessive collagen production can lead to abnormal scarring. Silicones applied over the scar provide occlusion and hydration of the stratum corneum, down-regulating keratinocyte stimulation and further collagen production. After 2-3 months of silicone treatment, collagen is normalized and hypertrophic scarring is prevented.
